Lara Shepard
Lara is a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health Professions
Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and with the Board of Healthcare Funders.
She earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from North West
University. Her master’s dissertation focused on understanding and
supporting families navigating the challenges of Autism Spectrum Disorder
(ASD), specifically the intricate facets of the diagnostic process as
experienced by parents of children with ASD, shedding light on the
emotional, psychological, and practical dimensions of the journey. She
presented her research at the Annual Autism Symposium in 2022.
Lara enjoys working with children, adolescents, and adults. She believes
that everyone is unique and deserves to be heard. Although therapy can
sometimes be an unsettling process, Lara strives to provide a comfortable
and warm space for children, adolescents, and adults to grow and to
flourish.
Lara works from a wide range of therapeutic modalities and techniques and
uses an integrative approach to address the needs of the client. She makes
use of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) approaches together with person
